Sustainable Eco Trekking into Atlas Mountains, Morocco.

October 24th - 27th, 2019

Come to discover this amazing part of the World!

This is a post retreat activity that is open to everyone who would like to join.

During 3 days we will be walking into the Atlas Mountains region closer to Ourika Valley, to reach our final destination, The Plateau of Yagour, from where the views will make you redefine your concept of “breathtaking”.

We will be sleeping in tents or sheperd’s refuges under the stars, and will discover how the inhabitants of this remote regions live.

The whole expedition will be leaded by our awesome Berebere guides who will cook and look after us, setting up the camp every day for us. We go with mules that will carry the heavier items, making it easy and fun for the group!

Day 1

The meeting point will be at Marrakesh Organics at 12pm. From there we have transport to Tizi N’Oucheg Auberge where we have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2

We have breakfast at the Auberge and then we start the trekking. We will be walking across different landscapes such as waterfalls, open fields and rocky walkways. The first night we will stay next to a shepherd´s refuge into the wild. Our guides organize the food for us. Nothing to worry about except enjoying the wilderness.

Day 3

This day we continue to walk and the final destination will be the Plateau de Yagour, the highest point in this area from where we get breathtaking views and see some of the prehistoric petroglyphs carved on the rocks by ancient inhabitants of the area. Full day walking in nature and last night in tents. Amazing tea breaks guaranteed!

Day 4

We walk back to the Auberge. We will arrive there at lunch time where home made cous-cous awaits!. About 5pm we have private transport to Marrakesh or we can organize for you transport wherever you need to go.

Prepare for the Trekking

The difficulty of this trekking is low, affordable to most of us, even the no experienced ones. We will spend an average of 5 walking hours a day with several stops, but it is not a difficult path.

Each day our lovely guides will set up the camp for us, they will also prepare the yummy meals. Their mules will carry the heaviest part of our equipment, so we can walk with just some warm clothes and water. These mules are also happy and very well cared for!

The days are hot and the temperatures can be quite cold at night. It is important that you bring a good sleeping bag or pijama ( in case you don’t have one, we can also lend you some blankets).

You need to be able to stay in the total wilderness for 2 days. This means enjoying amazing landscapes free from any civilizations, not wifi and not electric sockets; It also means there will be not hot showers or bathrooms. Only cold rivers and open spaces. We love it like this and we are sure you will too!

We recommend you to bring:

•Light weight water container to be refilled.

•Good trekking shoes and/or any other technical mountain weather garement you have : polar jacket, gloves, thermal socks, neck warmer, etc.

• Warm clothes for night time and sleeping bag.

• Frontal light.
